Dr. Crafty Resin Pros & Cons
I have been using Dr. Crafty resin for a few years now and I have practiced using it extensively so you don’t have to. In this post I will break down some of the pros and cons of Dr. Crafty Resin. I have made tons of beautiful coasters with Dr. Crafty resin and many successful projects.
Let’s start with the pros:
Uhm the price. Right now Dr. Crafty Resin is on SALE for $108.99 for 2 GALLONS. Yes you heard that right. Most resins are closer to double the price
I didn’t notice strong smells from the resin, and they do claim that it is VOC free
It comes with quality measuring/mixing cups, plastic stirrers, scrapers, and if you message them for a free gift they give you decent quality mica powders
They have pretty good customer service. I received a bad batch, I emailed them, and they sent a replacement batch free of charge.
It’s simple and straightforward to use, as long as you follow some key steps.
It has a pretty decent working time, about 45 minutes, although some of my tips and tricks may reduce the time.
Okay now for the cons:
The resin portioner is super thick. I mean really viscous, which makes this resin and hardener pretty difficult to mix well. But I did find a way around this. Watch my Youtube video for tips and tricks.
I think this resin is more sensitive to temperature and humidity. If it is too cold, it will take a long time to set, I have recorded up to 7-8 days until something hardened fully.
This resin has overheated for me in hot weather, but I am sure that holds true for many other resins.
